Rosa Blanca and Óscar Rodríguez, co-managers of Espina & Delfín, accepted the 13th Award for Business Excellence presented by the Santiago Financial Club, an honor that fills the entire team with pride. The event brought together high-level institutional representatives, including the mayor of Santiago, Goretti Sanmartín, and the regional minister of Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, as well as CFS President Roberto Pereira.
An Award for Legacy and the Future
During the ceremony, Roberto Pereira sought to highlight the quality of Galicia’s business community and cited Espina & Delfín as an example of this, singling out Rosa Blanca and Óscar as the successors to the project started by their father—capable of driving expansion based on innovation and good corporate governance. He also noted the importance—now more than ever—of the integrated water cycle management sector, describing it as an essential activity for the planet and for people.
People: The Central Figures in the Discourse
In her remarks, Rosa Blanca highlighted what we say year after year is the true strength of this company: the team. She emphasized that the company’s success isn’t due to machines, buildings, or strategy, but rather to the people and how they interact with one another, and she wanted to make it clear that, even though the two of them were the ones who went up to accept the award, the honor belongs to the entire team we form as an organization.
Óscar Rodríguez, for his part, gave a speech peppered with family anecdotes that highlighted just how closely his life and that of the company have always been intertwined. He recalled how even the simplest family plans, such as going to the beach for lunch, were shaped by this approach to work: he explained that, on beach days, the family would first choose a spot along the route where there was something to fix or resolve, and only then, once the issue was resolved, would they all continue together to the pine grove for lunch. This anecdote brought smiles to the audience’s faces and perfectly captures the culture of commitment and dedication that has defined the company since its inception—a culture we continue to carry with us in our daily work today.
Nearly half a century of experience
Espina & Delfín was founded in Santiago de Compostela in the 1970s with the goal of developing integrated water cycle management systems, from water collection to its return to nature. Headquartered in the Tambre Industrial Park, we are now a leader in the water sector thanks to a horizontal and integrated organizational model that allows us to cover all phases of the business, from the design of solutions to the operation and maintenance of services.
Among our milestones are more than 100 wastewater treatment plants completed, more than 30 drinking water treatment plants built, and services provided to more than 50 municipalities, in addition to international projects in Portugal, Senegal, Colombia, and Haiti. We have an average workforce of more than 400 employees with an average tenure of over 15 years—a fact that confirms that people remain the true backbone of this project.
In addition to this track record, we remain committed to innovation: in June 2025, we opened our new water analysis laboratory in Santiago, accredited by ENAC and capable of testing more than 200 parameters, and we were the only Galician company to receive funding on its own in the first call for proposals under the PERTE for Water Digitalization.
A unanimous jury
The jury, composed of the Board of Directors of the Santiago Financial Club, unanimously selected Espina & Delfín for this 13th Award for Business Excellence, which in previous years has recognized firms such as Jealsa, Grupo Pérez Rumbao, EGASA, UROVESA, Congalsa, Castrosua, ABANCA, El Correo Gallego, HM Hospitales, Sabadell Gallego, Limpiezas Salgado, and Grupo Agrelo.
