The temporary joint venture (UTE) formed by Espina y Delfín and Cuartazona Ingeniería has been awarded the contract to digitize the high-pressure water supply networks of Galician municipalities with fewer than 20,000 residents that were preselected by the Xunta. This project, awarded by Augas de Galicia for 5.3 million euros and co-financed with European Next Generation funds, is part of the first phase of the new Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE) for the Digitization of the Water Cycle.
In Santa Comba, Aguas de Galicia will provide 135,374 euros in funding for the facility digitization work to be carried out by Espina & Delfín. This work involves installing meters, tank-level measurement systems, and analyzers for chlorine, pH, and turbidity, as well as monitoring the pumps’ electricity consumption. The work will enable a faster response in the event of a breakdown or incident.
In addition, Espina & Delfín held its first meeting with the Salvaterra de Miño City Council to present the specific plans for digitizing the water supply and wastewater systems. The total cost of the work to be carried out in Salvaterra is estimated at more than 40,000 euros.
The purpose of this project is to collaborate with municipal governments to adopt tools that enable the remote, real-time management and operation of water distribution systems through the installation and commissioning of a series of digital monitoring stations, as well as providing Augas de Galicia with an information system that allows it to collect, visualize, and share information regarding the operation of the monitored systems, as a means of supervising and controlling the use of the resource.
